Extended Communion with the Reserved Sacrament is intended as a means of facilitating regular reception of Holy Communion. In this service the Reserved Sacrament (previously consecrated by a Priest) is distributed by suitably trained lay people with the approval of the Area and Diocesan Bishops. Extended Communion indicates that the lay person “extends” the Communion, celebrated within the Benefice by our Priests, across the whole Benefice.

On Monday we are delighted that Rev John Jukes will be licensed as our Rector. I hope that many readers of this update will join us for this special service and to give John and Denise the warmest of welcomes to our Benefice.

We open our church for private prayer from 09:00 -
It was wonderful to see so many of you at the service to install, license and induct Rev John Jukes as our Rector and welcome his wife Denise to our benefice.
John has been busy this week meeting people including retired clergy, church officers and visiting St Peter’s School. He will be leading our worship in Wem this Sunday, next Sunday he will celebrate communion at St Peter’s Lee Brockhurst and the following Sunday 5th March he will celebrate communion at St Luke’s Weston under Redcastle. For the present the pattern of services in the three churches will continue as in recent months.
John has indicated that he wishes to have Mondays as a rest day and intends to take most occasional services (baptisms, weddings and funerals).
